Description

Wooden Tea Cup Saucer, Chataku. Diameter 9cm (3.5"), interior cup placement area diameter 4.5cm (1.75") x H. 1.5cm (0.625".) Weight 21 grams. The use of a "chataku" not only protects the table from liquid stains and rings, but also indicates a higher level of service. When serving guests, it is a customary sign of respect for a chataku to be used to either serve the tea cup, or to place the tea cup on the chataku. You can also elevate your personal tea ritual by using the chataku.

Unlike the Western tea cup and saucer set which match both material and patter; Japanese chataku can be made of various materials such as wood, lacquered wood, plastic, metal, or cloth. One can select the material and pattern that best suits the tea cup, the season, mood or level of formality of the tea service, or your own aesthetic flair.
