Spring has finally arrived! In Japan, while cherry blossoms are capturing everyone's attention, the countdown to the new season's tea harvest has also begun. We'll be drunk with shincha tasting in a few months.
For now, we're happy to present a collection of pottery from Japan, much of it from the town of Mashiko in Tochigi Prefecture. I lived there in 1999-2000, and made numerous trips back in the following few years.
The people and pottery of Mashiko definitely have a special place in my heart.
We hope that you will also enjoy the warmth of Mashiko-yaki.

| Organic Asatsuyu Fukamushi (deep-steamed) Sencha, 2023 1st Harvest Origin: Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture Cultivar: Asatsuyu As with most deep-steamed tea, it infuses quickly and produces a deep green color on the first infusion. Very full bodied with grassy flavor and aroma, combined with a hint of marine air. Very smooth and light, with low astringency and subtle amami (sweetness) even on subsequent infusions. |
