Himo Tsuki Kibako, Wooden Box with Cord for Tea Bowl Storage. Wooden boxes are often used for protecting collectible pottery, are often signed by the maker as a measure of authenticity. This particular box is an adequate size for the storage of most Matcha Chawan (Tea Bowls) with the following dimensions. Interior: Depth. 4"(10cm) x Square 6"(15cm). Exterior: H. 4.75"(12cm) x Square 6.5"(16.5cm). Weight 250 grams. The flat woven cord ("Sanada Himo") is three thread colors of white, blue, and brown which runs through a gap in runners on the bottom of the box. The bottom of the box is recessed so that another box can be stacked and still have room for the tied cord. The lid is kept in place by "niho-san" (2-crosspiece) construction.  Protect and store your valuable tea bowl with a wooden box.
