Glass Tea Pot by Japanese manufacturer HARIO, 450cc/15.2oz. H.3.875"(9.75cm) x W.6.25"(15.75cm) x Dia.4.5"(10.5cm). 248 grams. Stainless steel fine mesh basket strainer insert. Ideal for brewing or serving hot (heatproof Borosilicate glass) or iced teas. It's particularly useful for brewing teas (i.e. flavored teas, coffee, etc.) whose aromas could affect unglazed pottery tea pots, such as most Tokoname wares. Safe for microwave and dishwasher, but not for use on induction heating surfaces or open flame.
HARIO has been a dependable name in the Japanese glassware industry since 1921. Initially starting as a maker of laboratory glassware in Ueno, Tokyo; HARIO expanded to glass coffee siphons after WWII, and then to table wares in the 1960's. In the late 1900's - early 2000's, they also began manufacture of automobile headlights, domestic and industrial lamps, musical instruments, and more. Their factory in Ibaraki Prefecture is considered a "pollution-free" factory as it uses electricity instead of oil to melt glass so has operated without smokestacks since 1972.
