A gift box with a variety of four naturally-grown teas representing different appellations and cultivars in WaKoucha (Japanese Black Teas), which are seeing a rise in production and expertise among changing tastes in Japan. Benifuuki WaKoucha and Yutakamidori WaKoucha from Yakushima Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site, in Kagoshima Prefecture; Benifuuki WaKoucha from Kakegawa in Shizuoka Prefecture, a major growing region for all Japanese tea; and Setoya Momiji, a Yabukita varietal WaKoucha from Fujieda, also in Shizuoka Prefecture. All have different tastes and personalities, due to their differing terroir. All Japanese Black Teas are excellent either hot or iced. A great gift for those black tea lovers, or for those wanting to dive further into the growing world of Japanese Black Teas. Japanese Black Tea, or WaKoucha (literally "red tea,") is not nearly as well-known as Japanese Green Tea, even though black tea has been produced in Japan since the late 1800's as an export item to Europe and the United States. |
