Description
Asanoka Sencha - 2025 Shincha (New Harvest Tea). Naturally grown with no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.
Origin: Satsumasendai, Kagoshima Prefecture.
Cultivar: Asanoka
This Asanoka Sencha infuses to a light golden-green with a savory aroma. A light first infusion thickens to a full body on the second infusion. It's a grassy-sweet forward tea, but well-balanced with umami (savory) and shibumi (astringent) notes. Smooth and well-balanced makes it an "nomi yasui" (easy-to-drink) sencha.
Satsumasendai is located in western Kagoshima Prefecture facing out to the Koshikijima Islands and beyond to the East China Sea. Also cut by the large Sendai River, it experiences warm breezes and an early growing season. Naturally grown tea production in the area has increased in recent years.
