Karigane refers to \u003cem\u003ekuki-cha\u003c\/em\u003e (stem tea) made specifically from the stems of Gyokuro, whereas \"\u003cem\u003ekukicha\u003c\/em\u003e\" may refer to stem tea from \u003cem\u003esencha\u003c\/em\u003e, or \u003cem\u003ehoujicha\u003c\/em\u003e (\u003cem\u003ehouji-kukicha\u003c\/em\u003e.) Infuses to a deep golden-green in the first infusion. The flavor and aroma are grassy with a slightly sweet finishing note. Full-bodied, but with very low astringency and lower caffeine content than sencha or gyokuro.
