The Pleasure of Fine Japanese Tea

About Us

Charaku Fine Japanese Tea is a collaboration between Seattle-based tea specialist, Tatsuo Tomeoka, and a fourth-generation tea merchant based in Shizuoka, Japan’s largest and best-known tea growing region. Together, we work in conjunction with artisan tea farmers throughout Japan. We are both passionate about spreading Japanese tea culture and health by making high quality fresh tea available outside of Japan. We offer select leaf teas sourced from around the country, searching for the best of the unique qualities that each appellation has to offer. We also offer Certified Organic Matcha, produced from tencha, hand-picked and granite stone-milled in the traditional method.

Our teas are available for both retail and wholesale purchase. We package in small, nitrogen-flushed batches shortly after harvest in order to bring you the freshest (and therefore healthiest) Japanese tea experience.

Tea servingTatsuo Tomeoka is a Japanese tea specialist and frequent speaker on Japanese tea, art history, and aesthetics. He has also coordinated and produced a number of art, culture, and world music events in the Pacific Northwest and in Japan. If you are located in this region and would like to have a tea tasting presentation or discussion for your group, organization, or college class; please contact Tatsuo. He is also the owner and operator of WaSabiDou, a business devoted to Japanese antiques, as well as to contemporary crafts from international artists.
